September 11th – Slough Jets Programme

Welcome back to the Hangar for the start of another hockey season.

Before I go any further I’d just like to thank-you all for your support at the end of last season. As you know I missed the final home game last season as the day before I was admitted to hospital having had a Heart attack. I followed the play-offs from hospital and eventually got discharged after having had a double by-pass operation. I’m pleased to say my recovery has been good and I’m back ready to go tonight.

So tonight it’s the first chance to see the 2010/11 Jets at home as we build towards the season defending our Play-off Trophy. We start by facing Bracknell and Swindon in challenge matches which will benefit all three teams by helping them get some game practice in before the season proper starts next weekend.

Our squad this year has new players in and some returning players and thankfully for me they all have pronounceable names!!! Welcome to the new guys, welcome back to the returners and good luck to those Jets who won’t be playing with us this season.

The game night playlist will once again have some new tunes and some old favourites tonight and if there’s anything you’d like to hear or any announcements for birthdays (or other special occasions) you’d like made during the game just let me know.

Hopefully by now you’ll all have seen the new “Jets TV” we launched in the summer. We’ve interviewed some of the players ahead of the new season and from tonight we’ll be recording the games and providing highlights on “Jets TV” weekly. If you haven’t seen Jets TV yet you’ll see the latest video embedded on the home page of the website or if you click through to the Slough Jets Facebook page you’ll see a Youtube tab at the top where you can see all the “Jets TV” videos

So down to business we go as we welcome Bracknell and Swindon for our pre-season games and this season I want the Hangar to be the loudest rink on the circuit!! Let’s go, starting right here.

Real hockey, real noise starting tonight.
