Saturday 22nd September 2012 – Slough Jets Programme

Good evening and welcome to the Hangar for week two of the league and cup season. Tonight’s opponents are the Telford Tigers who despite finishing bottom of last year’s league proved along the way that they are no pushovers.

Last weekend we kicked off against the Sheffield Steeldogs. It was a funny game, the Steeldogs as I thought they would, struggled with no Bowns nor Ozolins and even having seen the game again from the camera’s viewpoint I still am not sure whether or not Sheffield’s second goal was on or off sid! The Jets clicked, they looked sharp and they looked confident. Andre Payette on the other hand, and this is just my personal opinion, seemed to be getting more and more frustrated as the game went on and as scoring isn’t his forte he seemed happy enough just trying to disrupt the game with some physical play. That tactic also didn’t work but hey, I’m not complaining as we comfortably took two points and we ended the first weekend one of just three teams with a 100% record.

Have you seen the new “Not just for Slough” poster we have? It’s available to download, print and share if you can and hopefully it will help us appeal to a broader audience that just the people of Slough. I know that we have quite a few supporters who come from outside of Slough and hopefully we can attract more! As the Play-off Champions, and winners of four trophies in five years it would be nice to see the Jets playing to the large support they deserve by bringing in new people to the Jets family at the Hangar every weekend.

So tonight’s game is the second of the weekend for us having played at Swindon last night. The Wildcats came up strong against us in the pre-season but on the first night we were missing an import and on the second night we were playing 2+2 imports for the first time this season and Ladislav Harabin was making his debut. I’m sure they will have provided another tough test last night but the Jets will of course be fired up for tonight’s game and ready to take on Tom Watkins and his Tigers. Hopefully it’ll be another exciting night of hockey tonight.

Don’t forget next weekend is our first Guildford encounter of the season and hopefully that’ll be a great night at the Hangar. The Flames will travel with good support as they always do so bring some friends and let’s make home advantage count!

Enjoy tonight’s game
