Saturday 9th November – Slough Jets Programme

A warm welcome to the Hangar for another match up and our second encounter at the Hangar this season with the Manchester Phoenix. We’ve played a couple of games at their place this year and one here which means we’ve already played half our fixtures with the Phoenix. These are tough games that are better behind you than ahead of you and Manchester have had an excellent start to the season. They sit on top of the league table and will be looking to not only retain the play-off trophy they won last season but add to it.

It was great to see the guys earn 2/3 of the available points last week. Three good performances, two wins over Swindon and a loss against MK in a game swung by penalty calls. The Lightning netted twice at 5 on 3 and momentum took a big swing. What was impressive to see after a tough loss the night before was the performance on Sunday. The Jets dropped an early goal but then answered back with 7 on the trot to seal a big win. There was great team spirit on show, seeing everyone enjoy not only the combined success and but the individual success too. Alan Lack scored his first goal and followed it straight up with his first assist too and no matter how many goals you score in your career the first one you score for a new team is always special.

Being Saturday night this weekend skating is back after the game and you can all stay on for just £1 and skate until 11pm. If you don’t want to skate after the game why not go and have a drink (alcoholic or soft) in the bar afterwards. When I was a newbie I was always amazed at the post game atmosphere, everyone from both teams mingling and catching up after the game, kids skating, adults in the bar with the players and officials. It’s a shame those days left us but I’m still hoping with everything in place we can get those days back.

Enjoy tonight’s game
