Weekends in Slough mean two things for me: music and hockey. From 8.30 to 10.30 on Friday, I’ll be behind the decks at Slough Ice Arena, playing the tunes that get the crowd moving. But soon, Saturday nights will also mean match nights, as the Slough Jets hit the ice for the new season starting September 13.
There’s nothing like the energy of a Jets game. As Match Night DJ, my role is more than just hitting play — it’s about building the atmosphere. From warm-up tracks to goal celebrations, every piece of music has a job to do. You’re not just entertaining fans, you’re part of the game-day experience.
It’s hard to describe the buzz unless you’ve been there. The sound of skates cutting across the ice, the roar of the crowd when a goal goes in, and the music kicking in to amplify that moment. It’s electric.
This season feels extra special. Hockey has a way of bringing communities together. The Jets aren’t just a team — they’re part of Slough’s identity.
For me personally, match nights combine two passions: music and sport. I grew up with both, and getting to play a role in the Jets’ journey is something I never take for granted. It’s high-pressure too — pick the wrong track after a goal, and you’ll hear about it! But when you get it right, the whole arena lifts.
As the countdown to September 13 continues, I’m already prepping playlists, thinking about game-day cues, and working out how to make each night unique. It’s about making sure the music enhances the experience, never distracts from it.
So as we head into another season, I can’t wait to welcome fans back, feel that first faceoff buzz, and hopefully celebrate plenty of Jets goals. Until then, I’ll keep the decks warm on Friday nights — see you at the rink.
