The Soundtrack of the Slough Jets

Getting Ready for Slough Jets Match Nights

There’s nothing quite like the buzz of an ice hockey match night. From the moment you step into the rink, there’s an electricity in the air. And for me, as Match Night DJ for the Slough Jets, I get to help shape that atmosphere with music.

More than just playing music

People sometimes think it’s just about pressing play. But a Match Night DJ is about timing, mood, and momentum. From the warm-up tracks that get the players fired up, to the intro music that makes the crowd erupt, to the goal songs that have the entire rink on their feet — every track matters.

Building tension and release

Hockey is fast, physical, and unpredictable. The soundtrack needs to match that. A driving beat between plays keeps the energy high, while big anthems after goals give the fans something to shout along to. It’s about making sure the soundtrack matches the moment.

Behind the playlist

In the weeks before the season starts, I’ll spend hours pulling together playlists, mixing tried-and-tested favourites with new tracks that will become part of the Jets’ sound this year. It’s a mix of music knowledge, crowd psychology, and a bit of instinct. Some will work well, some won’t!

Favourite moments

Over the seasons, there have been moments that stick with me — a game-winning goal in overtime, the roar of the crowd echoing with the music, or even just a cheeky singalong between plays. When music and sport collide in the right way, the atmosphere is unbeatable.

I’ve made a great number of very good friends through ice hockey, players, officials and supporters!

Looking ahead

This year, the Jets’ season kicks off at home on September 13, and I can’t wait to be back at the Hangar. There’s nothing like it, the lights, the noise, the passion, and the privilege of helping create those unforgettable match night memories.

If you’ve never been to a Jets game, this is the year to come down. And if you have, you already know how much fun it is. I’ll see you in the stands,  and you’ll definitely hear me in the speakers.
