Saturday 15th March – Slough Jets Programme

Good evening and welcome to the Hangar for tonight’s game. When I wrote last week that our remaining games were must win that’s very much more serious now! The one point we got at Guildford has kept our tiny outside chance mathematically alive. All wins for us, no wins for Bracknell and no more than one win for Peterborough means eighth spot is ours! In essence what we need is Bracknell to lose all their games and Peterborough to win only their game against Bracknell while we beat Telford twice, Sheffield and Swindon. I’ll leave it to you to work out the odds.

Tonight we welcome Steve Moria to the Hangar with his Mo19 Leisurewear. This game has been a while in the planning but I’m pleased it’s finally here. Mo was a massive part of this club for over three seasons and since his retirement he has launched his own leisure wear range which is what tonight is all about. He will have items available to buy or order tonight and very soon the website will be live so you can see and order on-line.

We’re taking a photo of everyone in Mo19 wear tonight plus there will be chances to win some merchandise too so please get involved. Don’t be afraid to even pop over and say hi to Mo or any of the guys he has with him tonight, they are all great guys and they’d be more than happy to have a chat with you.

Bearing in mind what I wrote earlier next weekend could be our last game of the season. Not qualifying for the play-offs is a strange situation for us but if we drop a single point or the other teams don’t oblige by winning then that’s what will happen. That means we will end the season on a Sunday home game if qualification isn’t successful and traditionally Sunday’s aren’t great for us in terms of attendance.

I think given what Craig and the guys have gone through since December it’s only fitting that if indeed it turns out next Sunday is our last game that we have a massive turn out to roar them on and cheer their off at the end of the game for the final time this season. The guys who stayed loyal to us and the new signings (the ones who didn’t do a disappearing act) have played with a huge amount of pride and passion and they have represented Slough in a professional manner. Maybe next Sunday won’t be our last game this season but if it is I hope we will be able to smash our attendance record for this season to give the guys the send off they deserve.

My thoughts have already turned to next season. Musical changes, John and I have already considered Jets TV enhancements and of course players. The first two I have an input in, the last is obviously down to Craig but I’m sure many of us will all agree that there are many players this season we’d like to see back next year too!

The run in is tough but let’s enjoy the ride

My team, your team, OUR TEAM
