Friday nights always have a buzz. For me, it’s the decks at Slough Ice Arena, live from 8.30 to 10.30. The atmosphere is relaxed, fun, and all about skating to good music. But this week there’s an extra layer of excitement — because tomorrow night, the Slough Jets hit the ice for their first game of the season.
Being part of match nights as DJ is completely different from a Friday night set. At the rink, I’m choosing tracks to keep skaters moving and enjoying themselves. On game nights, the music becomes part of the sport. It builds the atmosphere, lifts the team, and gets the fans on their feet.
There’s nothing quite like it. The roar of the crowd after a goal, the sound of the skates carving into the ice, and the right track blasting through the arena — it all blends together into something electric.
Tomorrow is the season opener, and you can feel the anticipation building already. I’m proud to play a small part in it and can’t wait to be back behind the decks for another year with the Jets.
