Keeping the Balance: Radio, Voiceovers and Podcasting

When people ask me what I do, the answer isn’t always straightforward. Some know me from the Atom Radio Breakfast Show, others from match nights at the Slough Jets, and plenty from voiceovers, podcasts, or DJing. The truth is, I wear a lot of hats — and balance is everything.

Radio is fast-paced. You’re live, responding in the moment, reacting to stories and music. Voiceover work is different — it’s precise. Every word, every tone, every pause has to be crafted to fit the brief. Podcasting is somewhere in between. It’s structured and edited, but it allows room for long-form storytelling and deeper connection.

What ties them all together is communication. Whether it’s waking people up on the radio, voicing a documentary, or producing a podcast, the goal is always the same: connect with the listener.

Of course, balance isn’t always easy. Some days it feels like I’m spinning plates, moving from a live show in the morning to a VO session in the afternoon, then a podcast edit in the evening. But that’s also what I love. No two days are ever the same.

That variety keeps me motivated. And it reminds me that whether it’s a mic in a radio studio, a VO booth, or a podcast production suite, the power of sound remains the common thread.
