December 3rd – Slough Jets Programme

Welcome to the Hangar, welcome to December and of course welcome to the Steeldogs and their supporters.

All the panic of the zero point weekend a couple of weekends back has now been silenced as the Jets got back to winning ways with a hammering dealt out to the local rivals the Bracknell Bees and a good win on the road over the Manchester Phoenix.

With last week’s opponents only having to travel around 16 miles to the game it was nice to see a large travelling support and that added to our home support meant both teams enjoyed a good atmosphere at the game. Tonight the journey for the visitors is around 170 miles so I’m hoping those that have made the journey down did so safely.

Last weekend saw the shirt auction take place for the 2010/11 shirts. Sadly it seems some of the shirts went missing in between the end of the season and the shirt auction but the shirts we did have generated some good interest and hopefully everyone got themselves a shirt they wanted.

The big downside to last weekend was Aaron’s injury suffered at the start of the third period. The news I had at the start of the week was that his injury from first diagnosis seemed to be at the better end of the possibilities so hopefully he’ll manage to make a full recovery and be able to join Zach and Andrew as Slough’s representatives within the GB under 20s.

So this weekend we play Sheffield home and away and next weekend we play MK home and away. The Steeldogs and Lightning have both had great starts to the season so both these weekends will be tough tests. Tony Hand brings the Phoenix to the Hangar the following weekend and the Jets travel to Peterborough before the Christmas break to face the Phantoms who will be without Stephen Wall.

If you remember back to the start of the season we were looking for a new goal judge and I’d like to thank Sean Eckett for stepping in. Speaking of stepping in I’d also like to thank Simon Maher for stepping in as our videographer too. Thanks as always go to Jon, Vic, Steve, Sharon and Richard on our gameday team, and to Lewis our photographer and to Big John for not only his “loud waving” at the games but for continuing to be the brains behind the slick Jets TV productions you see every week.

Let’s get down to action tonight, enjoy the game.

My team, your team, OUR TEAM.
