Saturday 22nd December – Slough Jets Programme

Welcome to the final home game of 2013 as we play the Milton Keynes Lightning. What a year 2013 has been for the Jets, starting with the promise of a cup semi-final and later final appearance and ending with the Jets in a rebuilding phase! It’s probably not the year most of us would have predicted but despite the relative low we find ourselves in right now you have to look at how much we have over achieved so far this season.

Craig has been working hard to try and bring in new players and at the time of writing we are finalising one deal which should hopefully be completed by the weekend and negotiations are still ongoing with others. Losing Darius and Kamil this week was surprising as neither completed their two week’s notice but it was felt there was little point in these two players staying when they were so set on going. That said, due to injury Kamil wouldn’t have iced for us this weekend and in fact won’t ice for Peterborough either. Danny stood tall last weekend and won us a game the Bison probably expected to win. Darius’ loss will be a big void to fill, he has been a Jet for many years and is consistently a top scorer.

The other thing to consider is that while the club has lost players those same individuals are also friends who will leave our lives on all but an irregular basis now. Time to separate the two and wish everyone who has departed the best of luck and thank them for their efforts.

This now leaves the team fragile while we play without our departures who are gone and ahead of the arrivals we expect. I’d like to say thanks to those that have stayed, we still have the best defenceman in the country, now as our Captain. Ales Padelek has also pledged his allegiance and some good British players remain too. We have lost massively but we have a great platform to build from and contrary to some people’s opinion we will be back in 2014.

So for the final time in 2013 let’s get right behind the team, create an atmosphere in the Hangar like the good old days many many years ago and raise the roof for the Jets.
Enjoy the game
