Saturday 11th February – Slough Jets Programme

Welcome to tonight’s match up against the Sheffield Steeldogs. Hope the Steeldogs and their supporters have had a safe journey down to the Hangar and of course the Jets fans also.

A massive thanks to everyone that braved the weather last weekend to watch our Big Weekend of Hockey. Sad that we only got one of the points on Saturday but a shut-out on Sunday certainly was a good way to end the weekend. Great performance by Rocky to get the shut-out but also what a performance from the Pliskauskas, Watt and Davies line with all three of the goals from Darius.

Saturday there was a bit of controversy at the end of the second period with Guildford believing they had scored a goal. I was asked by the referee if the clock had reached zero and I asked Sharon and Vic who both agreed with me that the clock had reached zero which I then told the referee. As a goal can’t be scored at zero there was no goal scored, that’s one of the easier rules of the sport.

Tonight we welcome the Steeldogs who have added to their roster since our last meeting. Sheffield have been one of the real surprises this season and it’s credit to Andre Payette that he’s turned them around this year, traditionally they’ve been a bottom half team over the last few years but this year they’ve got themselves to fourth place in the table with 3 imports and now have the 4th on their roster for the final push of the season.

There’s a couple of busy weeks coming up for the Jets with midweek games being played this and next week, one home and one away and then an away weekend for the team at Milton Keynes and Sheffield.

So down to action tonight, just the one game means we need to keep nothing in the cupboard for tomorrow. I’ll be keeping Richy B well away from the laptop tonight so hopefully we won’t be starting the game in silence while the laptop reboots after his tech disasters!

Enjoy the game
