Your audio journey – Part 35 – Compression Part 7

So far the entire audio journey has focussed solely on audio, and today does again but this time we look at audio as part of video production.

Every video contains an audio element and you will have taken ages recording your footage and b-roll, and another chunk of time planning and arranging the clips on your timeline so why then ruin your video by not processing the audio that goes with it?

Any Adobe Audition user will be greeted by the effects they know once they open up the audio effects of Premier Pro. In Premier Pro I tend to use the dynamics effect to noise gate, compress and limit the audio rather than adding many effects to the video.

I’ll show you how to add compression to a simple single audio track video or the easiest way to add compression (or any other effect) to a multi-audio track sequence.
